FAQ:

Don’t you get lonely?

I have along with me my mountain friends. Memories of adventures and shared philosophy. I never feel alone. I also have the memories of my friend who have lost their lives doing what they love. I am keeping their spirits with me.

Sleep?

I sleep when I can. Only when the sea state, wind speed and direction do not change can I rest and then only when maintenance and repairs are finished. I have no regular schedule. I do have a problem in that I sleep so soundly nothing wakes me up.

Watch keeping?

I have an external buzzer on my intrusion guard alarm on my radar. It is loud. I have a Sea Me unit with a loud buzzer as well. Carbon has no radar signal so I use electronics. I am on deck very little but can see 360 degrees from my cockpit bubble.

Food?

1st leg was all organic food and no caffeine. Tofu. Rice Nuts seeds dried fruit……
I am now using freeze dried food only. I have found that I just need to put fuel into the tank and it needs to be easy  to do.

Medical?

I go to the eye doctor, dentist, general MD and acupuncturist before I go. I have a moderate first aid kit. I very conscious of prevention. I move around slow on the boat. I leave port healthy.

Navigation?

I use a combination of electronic  and paper charts. I plot my position 2 times per day on the paper chart and once per day on the electronic.

Weather routing?

I use grid files from Max Sea Meteo France and Commanders Weather once per day.
